The United Nations University (UNU) Hub on Water in a Changing Environment (WICE) is dedicated to ensuring that research benefits society. We believe that impactful research and education must extend beyond academia to influence policy, practice, and public awareness. Our third pillar thus focuses on outreach, advocacy, and creating tangible impacts through strategic communication and engagement.

Advocacy, Outreach and Impact

There are many ways to work towards research impact, from giving interviews to local newspapers, to writing policy briefs or contributing to the latest climate change report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). UNU-WICE is dedicated to supporting researchers at all stages of their career in communicating their scientific results to different audiences.

Activities

  • Policy papers: We publish policy briefs and reports that translate complex research into actionable recommendations for policymakers, activists, and NGOs
  • Workshops and Seminars: We organize workshops on research impact and communication to empower our researchers and students.
  • Networking: We gather researchers with expertise in outreach, advocacy and impact at Lund University to share knowledge and experience.
  • Collaboration with Global Partners: We work closely with the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) to amplify our impact and reach.

Join us in our mission to create a sustainable, just, and inclusive world through effective outreach, advocacy, and impact.
